We took a little trip over the Christmas break and ended up in Sedona, AZ with good friends. Not only was the destination beautiful, but traveling there wasn’t so shabby either…
We witnessed an AMAZING sunset as we drove into New Mexico the first evening of our adventure…
We stayed the night in Gallup, NM, and found the best kept secret in town the following morning: Blunt Bros. Coffee. Their regular coffee was an Americano and it was SOOOO GOOD! I ordered a “Navajo Fog” (Herbal tea with warm milk) and it was the BEST tea I’ve ever had. SERIOUSLY. When we drove back though on our way home, we stopped here again but they were closed
(It was New Years Eve, after all) I was so sad. Don’t miss this on old Route 66 in Gallup if you get the chance!
We spent time in Vegas with family for Christmas, then met up with old Cali friends and headed to AZ….
Not without a quick stop at the Hoover Dam of course. (Marjorie had never been)
We happened to roll in right when the light was beautiful. We had a lot of luck with that on this trip!
The first day in Sedona we took a 4×4 road up some mountains (my husband is famous for finding the best roads). No pink jeep tours for us. Just the comfort of our own vehicle and some Radiohead…
Once again, we made it to the top and hung out until sunset. SO worth it!
The next day we all took part in a New Years ritual of sorts. We each wrote lists of things we were forgiving and letting go of, and then burned each one. We wrote down declarations for the new season we are entering into, and placed them beneath a vase of flowers and burned incense. I don’t think any of us will soon forget this New Year.
The last day we woke up to snow! What a beautiful surprise!
Even the drive home was scenic…

Very nice set of pictures you got here! That sky is amazing
Something about this blog posting reminds me of a children’s story. Maybe like Mittens, the one you read to us in LV?
These pictures . . . WOW – felt like I was there.

Beautiful Amber! Love the photos!
Can feel the warmth in ‘friend on redrock’ photo. Nice sense of distant fresh air and thought in this series of photos.
