Finding A Well

I was talking with my mom yesterday and she was saying how amazed she was at the beauty of New Mexico.  She didn’t realize it was such a green state.  I think a lot of people who have never been there probably think of the typical dry red dirt, cactus, sagebrush, kokopelli…  But New Mexico’s mountains are beautiful and green and full of streams and wildflowers.

what makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere there hides a well

A quote by  Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

There’s hidden life even in the driest of places- it’s just a matter of discovering it.

I am a sucker for wildflowers, so even though I’ve already posted about Jemez camping, hiking and hot spring-ing here and the Jemez area Valles Caldera here, I wanted to share a bit of the beauty you run across on a typical mountain hike in the Land of Enchantment.

If you missed my previous post about all of the MUSHROOMS we ran across in Jemez (they were getting a ton of rain at the time), you can see those HERE.
